Conclusion of the Project: Enhancing the Role of Women in Community Mediation and Conflict Resolution in Salfit
Salfit – The Corporation for Community Development Association (CFCDA) has concluded its year‑long project, “Enhancing the Role of Women in Community Mediation and Conflict Resolution,” implemented in the city of Salfit and the villages of Farkha and Yasuf, with the support of local and international partners.
The project aimed to empower women and strengthen their active participation in resolving community conflicts through a series of specialized activities, including awareness workshops, professional training programs, a Training of Trainers (TOT) program, and extensive media campaigns. The project successfully established a sustainable women’s mediation network comprising a group of trained women capable of transferring knowledge and organizing new workshops in the future.
More than 150 direct beneficiaries participated in the project’s activities, with women representing 80% of the total participants. The local community also benefited from awareness sessions focused on promoting dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution. Educational and awareness materials were produced and disseminated through social media platforms, including an audio podcast and both electronic and printed brochures, to expand outreach and strengthen community acceptance of women’s roles in mediation.
The project faced several challenges, most notably mobility restrictions due to military checkpoints and security risks near settlements. However, the team successfully overcame these obstacles by providing safe transportation and coordinating continuously with local councils. Digital tools, such as WhatsApp groups, were also used to facilitate communication and exchange experiences among participants.
Rehab Alamour, the project director, expressed her pride in the achievements made, emphasizing that the project significantly contributed to building women’s capacities and enhancing their leadership roles within the community. She noted that the project laid a strong foundation for sustainability through the women’s mediation network and partnerships with local institutions.
Local community members and partner organizations expressed their appreciation for the efforts carried out, stressing the importance of sustaining and expanding such initiatives to include additional areas, in order to reinforce a culture of dialogue and peace within Palestinian society.
This project is part of the ongoing efforts of the Corporation for Community Development Association, a civil society organization founded in 2013 that has continuously worked to promote human rights and uphold the principles of social justice within local communities in the Salfit Governorate. The association places at the core of its mission the empowerment of vulnerable groups—particularly women and children—through awareness and developmental programs grounded in human rights–based community work.
The association works to raise awareness of fundamental rights, support women's participation in public life and decision-making, and enhance their ability to access equal opportunities and resources. It also implements specialized programs in community protection, prevention of gender‑based violence, and the provision of safe and inclusive learning environments for children—positioning the organization as an active partner in promoting human dignity and enabling communities to build a future based on equality and fairness.
This project stands as a successful model of integration between training, awareness, and sustainable community engagement, fully aligned with the association’s mission to reinforce human rights, justice, and equality within Palestinian communities
